In the final moments of life, connecting permanently with nature leaves a more beautiful world for future generations. Scattering ashes in Gardens of Remembrance (GoR) is not only environmentally friendly and simple, but also conveys the important values of love, respect, and responsibility to future generations. Green burial service provided by the Government is free of charge. Green burial also save the need for future procedures such as exhumation of remains or renewal of columbarium niches in the future, which is convenient for the descendants.
The 4,800 square metres Tsang Tsui GoR in Tuen Mun, built along the waterfront, is the biggest GoR managed by the FEHD. It is also the first GoR with areas covered by featured pebble stones. The GoR is designed to blend in with the natural environment, featuring a variety of flowers and plants in a scenic and tranquil environment, with memorial walls are erected for mounting plaques in memory of the deceased.

A Garden of Forever Love is constructed in the size of 60 square meters for keeping abortuses of less than 24 weeks’ gestation with a capacity of 300 nos. of keeping spaces. The architectural design of the Shek Mun Columbarium and GoR fully utilizes the site's natural topography and environmental features. Through landscaping, plants and trees serve as screens, blending the facility's exterior into the surrounding environment, creating a tranquil, dignified, humane, comfortable, and convenient environment for the public.
A commemorative feature called “Connect by Folding” is developed to offer the visitors a unique memorial experience near Shek Mun Garden of Remembrance and Garden of Forever Love. Visitors can engage in emotional expression by writing on flower-shaped and traditional origami paper, folding them into meaningful shapes like flowers and cranes. As the folded origami is placed in the Serenity Pond, written words fade away, symbolizing release and memory consolidation. This initiative fosters a sense of ritual and healing, allowing bereaved individuals to connect with their loved ones in a thoughtful and participatory way.
