Scattering of Cremated Ashes at Gardens of Remembrance
- The FEHD operates a total of 13 Gardens of Remembrance located at 9 public columbaria for members of the public to scatter cremated ashes of the deceased free of charge.
- Members of the public may also choose to scatter ashes of their loved ones at the gardens of remembrance of private cemeteries operated by non-government or religious organisations. For details, please contact the respective organisations.
- Apart from traditional metal ash scattering devices, family members of the deceased may use the one-off paper scattering devices provided free of charge by the FEHD. They can write down their blessings and words of remembrance for the deceased on the paper ash scattering devices. Family members may also bring their own ash scattering devices or containers to scatter cremains.
- Moreover, the applicant may engage a registered marble contractor to mount a commemorative plaque for the deceased on the dedicated wall of the Garden of Remembrance where the cremated ashes are scattered to commemorate the deceased after paying the required administration fee. A photo of the deceased can be displayed on the commemorative plaque. Members of the public may contact the masons direct for information on the works and material costs for plaque mounting.s
