To expand the reach of green burial promotion, we had set up a booth being the first time in the Hong Kong Book Fair 2025 from 16 to 22 July 2025, in the theme “School of Life”. Through this exhibition, we had further disseminated the message of green burial to various sectors of the public, especially enthusiastic readers. By offering in-person explanations and interacting with citizens, we showcased the commitment of the FEHD to provide quality funeral services — allowing the deceased to depart with dignity and offering comfort and support to the living people.
In line with the mission of the “School of Life” initiative, we encouraged the public to consider green burial and plan ahead for after-death arrangements in multiple and diversified forms. Our booth had been featured a wide variety of activities, including a 360-degree virtual tour of Gardens of Remembrance, an interactive "Five Ways of Life" recipe game, on-site registration through the Green Burial Central Register, and gift giveaways, attracting sccessfully over 9,500 visitors with vibrant cheers and active participations.
To align with the book fair’s ambience, we had invited relevant organizations and funeral specialists to display books on our booth’s bookshelf, covering diverse topics such as after-death arrangements, green burial, funeral culture, advance care planning and life and death education, to be read freely by patrons. To match the book fair’s annual theme, i.e. “Food Culture • Future Living”, our booth had been featured with 3D food models, representing the “Five Ways of Life” recipes in a bit to draw visitors’ attentions on life planning through casual topics like everyday home-cooked dishes, the five tastes of “Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Spicy& Salty” and the five ways of “Love, Gratitude, Apology, Forgiveness, and Farewell”.
Several small sharing sessions were held throughout the book fair, attracting large number of audiences. Additionally, the booth had demonstrated current green burial facilities and services and showcased five real-life user stories to help participants bridging their heartfelt journeys.
A sakura tree, symbolizing the endless cycle of life, had been set up at the booth, along with comfortable eco-friendly benches which providing a relaxed setting for our staff to talk with the public about green burial. We had provided detailed explanations of the application process and clarified common misconceptions, helping the public to gain more comprehensive information on relevant services and facilities.
